Lexie

Their journey

• Upon arriving at the shelter, Lexie quickly outgrew her enclosure - she was incredibly energetic and needed space to run and play.
• After 11 months in the shelter, Lexie was placed in a foster home where she could receive the attention, care, and training she needed to thrive.
• During foster care, Lexie received the training and socialization she needed in preparation for Mayfest - a highly successful adoption event where previous years and the demand of specific breeds define the dogs selected for the event, unfortunately, Lexie was not selected.
• Since there was limited space on the transport van, the foster asked if she could transport Lexie back and forth between the event, as well as handle her. This allowed Lexie to get the exposure she needed, outside of the shelters workload, unfortunately, even after the help of the foster, Lexie was still not selected.
• She returned back to her foster home for a few days - and then back to the shelter. A few days later, she attended another adoption event, where she seemed much more perky, but still no luck.
• About a month later, Lexie was featured on Facebook showcasing how this overlooked sweet dog was still available for adoption, but unfortunately, no luck.
• Later that same month, a new group of volunteers came and took a big interest in Lexie, keeping her training regiment going to prepare her for her forver home.
• After many false leads, A woman came to the shelter and spent a long tiem with Lexie, but no one thought she would adopt her. Monday the next week the woman returned and welcomed Lexie into her forver home.
