Ferdinand
Ferdinand spent 8 months in the shelter. Now he's learning what it means to be someone's shadow.
Their journey
- Ferdinand first came to Carroll County Animal Shelter in December of '25.
- His first time out of the shelter was 7 months later, during the Dog Day Out event - thanks to the help of a volunteer who spent the entire day with him.
- 6 days later Ferdinand entered his foster home, where he enjoyed hikes, walks, and plenty of much needed attention.
- Later that same month, Ferdinand was taken on by a Foster-to-Adopt trial, which finalized his adoption only 3 days later. Ferdinand is now living his best life with his new family.
He played in foster as a dog should.

What made the difference
Excited animals are often overlooked in shelter environments. A foster placement gives dogs like Ferdinand the socialization and stimulation they need to decompress and show their true, gentle nature.
