Bourbon
Nicknamed "The Barker" at the shelter for his vocal nature, Bourbon needed a foster home to help him decompress and learn to relax.
Their journey
- Bourbon arrived at the shelter with a high-energy personality and a tendency to bark at everything. His vocal nature led to most visitors overlooking him in favor of quieter dogs.
- But once Bourbon had left the shelter alongside his new foster family, his barking disappeared completely. During this time he was able to enjoy the hikes on the riverbank, and even became a fantastic ball fetcher!
- His foster socialized him with other dogs and helped him learn to relax in preparation for upcoming adoption events.
- He was featured on Facebook using photos from his foster family, and a few days later received a follow up from a woman out of state.
- She quickly connected Bourbon with her brother, who was looking for a dog to adopt, as he had recently lost his dog. The next morning, when the shelter opened, Bourbon was adopted by his new family and is now living his best life with them after 8 months of being in the shelter.
Until he had a chance to decompress, people quickly went past him
